Buddhist Monks Blessing / Wedding @ Beach : Afternoon
Afternoon: Monk Blessing / Wedding on the Beach.
“Serene, Magical, Exotic—these are the words often used to describe the ceremonies we offer in the backdrop of a real-life paradise where our events take place. Thailand, with its stunning emerald green waters against a lush green landscape, is home to some of the world’s most breathtaking beaches. With numerous islands to choose from, you’re sure to discover the perfect beach setting for your special occasion.
A sacred blessing by Thai Buddhist Monks provides couples seeking a once-in-a-lifetime experience in their relationship with a perfect opportunity. A blessing is an effort to connect with and share the goodness, especially in a divine sense. It’s an endeavor to make contact with the very essence of goodness itself and to share this positive ‘energy’ so that it may touch everyone present.
In addition to receiving a Thai Buddhist Blessing, we also offer the option of a ring exchange ceremony for couples looking to rejuvenate their marriage or start afresh. It’s a truly enchanting experience that will be cherished for a lifetime.
The afternoon Thai Buddhist Blessing Ceremony begins with a bow, followed by offerings to the Monks outside the temple at a specially arranged shrine for this special day. These prepared offering packages are necessary to receive blessings from the Monks. Since Monks refrain from eating after noon, the afternoon initial contribution packages do not include food.
Upon entering the beach venue, you’ll bow following the blessing chant and then proceed onto the beach to begin the prayers. The air will be filled with the fragrance of incense, and the gentle glow of candlelight will surround you. You’ll take your seat in front of the Monks to make the second offering. Once they accept it, the Monks will start the prayers with beautiful chants that resonate throughout the beach.
Exchanging of Rings / Vows (Optional Traditional Wedding Ceremony)
If the couple chooses to include a ring ceremony, they will be given flower garlands to exchange and adorn on each other. It is also customary for the couple to be adorned with a lei of flowers, intricately tied together with a piece of string, placed on their heads to symbolize their union. The couple will then take turns marking each other with three white spots on the forehead, symbolizing love, life, and luck. Following this, the couple proceeds to exchange heartfelt vows and, finally, the rings.
Holy Water Blessing
To purify their relationship of any negative energy, the couple will join hands and pour holy water from a small bottle into a bronze bowl, which will then be handed to the Head Monk. The act of transferring the holy water symbolizes the cleansing of their relationship. The Monk will conclude this step with a final blessing, gently sprinkling holy water.
Conclusion of the Ceremony
As a parting gift, the Monks present Lucky String Bracelets to the couple, as well as to their friends and family in attendance. The ceremony concludes with the lighting and release of a sky lantern, adding a touch of charm and magic to the occasion.
Professional photographers will be present throughout the ceremony to capture these special moments. There will also be an opportunity at the end of the ceremony for additional photographs.
NOTE: Buddhism is as much a philosophy as it is a religion. The open-minded nature of the faith allows the Monks to perform wedding rituals for those who may not be familiar with it. It’s important to note, however, that unlike many traditional Western wedding ceremonies, there is no kissing allowed in front of the Monks at the conclusion of the ceremony.
